wanted to be somebody, but now
I realize I should have been more specific"
I received my B.Sc. in Biology from the Universitat de Barcelona and my M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Since 2003, I am associate professor of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Computer Science, Applied Mathematics and Statistics at the Universitat de Girona.
Meanwhile, I have had two children, Pau (21) and Núria (18), with my wife Carme.
Currently, I am the PI of the project "Mathematical modelling, theoretical biology and complex networks" (January 2015 - December 2017), supported by the "Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad" of the Spanish government. I am also a member of the (consolidated) research group "Equacions diferencials en derivades parcials i aplicacions" (PDEs and Applications) accredited by the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia.
My research group at the UdG is Equacions Diferencials, Modelització i Aplicacions which involves people working in different areas of Applied Mathematics as Celestial Mechanics and Biomathematics.
My fields of expertise are supposed to be Population Dynamics and Complex Networks, although I always feel like being an apprentice.
On 5-7 September 2012, we held a workshop on epidemics on networks at the UdG. You can have a look at EpiNet 2012. In 2013 we organized an advanced school on Epidemic modelling (EpiNet 2013) which covered some topics on epidemic modelling on networks more extensively. In 2016 we organized a meeting on multilayer and interconnected networks (MIN 2016).
