System analysis

The system is composed by three subsystems:
  1. Defected part editor: Allows the definition of imperfections over a part, by placing them and configuring their properties
  2. Scene editor: Allows the design of the virtual scene surrounding the part, which can be made up of supports, luminaries, and cameras
  3. Light simulation: Performs a light simulation over the scene to obtain the final image

The prototype has been developed over Maya (from Alias|Wavefront®). We have implemented plug-ins to incorporate functions that Maya does not provide, i.e. some shaders and tools to simulate imperfections and some utilities to simulate specific lighting.
